Volcanoes at Dalhousie!

007a

Work was being done in the atrium at Dalhousie which required them to post these barriers.  I took at picture as I remember Gandalf’s words about the dwarves digging too deep.  But yes, I had to spray paint the mouth.   Just cause.

Review: Duke Nukem FOREVER

09-03-2011_12-56-42_Shot0004 09-03-2011_00-50-43_Shot000209-03-2011_12-26-37_Shot000009-03-2011_00-52-55_Shot0005

If you loved the original Duke Nukem games, the genre and the humor, this game will NOT disappoint.  After waiting TWELVE years, it was fantastic to be able to put the sunglasses back on and crank up the pain.

Unlike other games out on the mark that skim close to sexuality and violence, trying to mask it with justifiable killing or some other cheesy story line, Duke Nuke’em Forever keeps it simple.

‘They’ll pay for shooting up my ride……..”

Even the packaging doesn’t try to hide that. Yes, Duke loves the women, loves the alcohol,
and loves the guns.   I was told after the first level in the demo, there was definitely something that would make me laugh.  Thanks again to whoever that was, I really didn’t see it coming. (sic)

A tip for those of you trying out the demo.  A lot of people go stuck fighting the Cycloid and trying to rip out the back by doing the strength taps on the space bar.  This is a PAIN IN THE ASS.  Some people online recommend mapping multiple keys to the same thing.
All I did was remap my MMB (middle mouse button) from Melee to Jump.  Viola.
You still have to tap it a few times.   But after a few hours of going ‘WHAT THE FCK?’,
this MMB trick does work.

I’m still working my way through the demo and LOVING IT.   Even with my older harder (2.5 4800+/ATI 4350) it played SMOOOOOTHLY.

In sum, Duke Nukem Forever is a game that makes no apologizes to the current political correct world nor does it try to mask the brutality of killing, pain, or sexuality with some higher moral judgment of society.  You don’t need to read through a dozen rules, join a clan, or even know more of a life purpose than kick alien asses, get drunk, and get laid.

And not necessarily in that order.
